DURHAM, N.C. - Lance Thomas was one of five players named to the 2010 Fan's Guide Coaches' All-Defensive team on Wednesday.
Now in its 15th season, the Fan's Guide All-Defensive team is determined by votes from the 12 head coaches in the ACC. Thomas gives Duke 20 selections all-time, more than the next two schools combined, Maryland (10) and either Clemson, Florida State, or Wake Forest (eight each).
Thomas received the third most votes with seven behind Florida State's Solomon Alabi (10) and Chris Singleton (9). Also named to the team were Wake Forest's L.D. Williams and Clemson's Trevor Booker.
This season Thomas played in all 31 games with 30 starts. He tied for the team lead with 12 drawn charges and tallied 17 steals and seven blocked shots. He anchored a defense that allowed just 61.8 points per game, the second best scoring defense in school history. The Blue Devils held 15 opponents to under 60 points, which tie for the second most by a Duke team since 1950.
Thomas and the Blue Devils will play the winner of the first round game between Boston College and Virginia in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday at 12 noon in Greensboro, N.C.
