Dudziak Earns No. 4 Seed in NCAA Tournament

DURHAM, N.C.-Duke University senior wrestler Konrad Dudziak earned the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship heavyweight bracket the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee announced this evening. Dudziak garnered runner-up honors in the 2009 NCAA Championship and recently captured his second consecutive ACC title.

A native of Bayonne, N.J., Dudziak is one of the 12 student-athletes earning a seed. He will battle Andrew Delaney of The Citadel in the opening match on Thursday, March 18. Delaney and Dudziak squared off earlier this season with the Blue Devil senior coming away with a 10-3 decision.

Dudziak earned the automatic berth in the tournament field after winning the ACC heavyweight crown. He defeated Jack Danilkowicz in the semifinal and got past Ziad Haddad of North Carolina in the title bout.

Unbeaten on the season at 14-0, Dudziak is 75-16 for his career.  He posted 10 decisions, three falls and won one contest by forfeit this season. His .824 career win percentage ranks fourth all-time in Duke wrestling history.

The NCAA Wrestling Championship kicks off on Thursday, March 18 at the Qwest Center Omaha. The first session kicks off at 12 p.m., and the finals will take place on Saturday, March 20.
