DURHAM, N.C. - Duke (17-3, 4-2), 10th in both the AP poll and ESPN/USA Today coaches poll, faces unranked Boston College (14-5, 6-1) on Sunday at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Tip-off is set for 5:38 p.m. with FSN televising the contest. Former Blue Devil great Shelden Williams will be honored at halftime with a jersey retirement ceremony.

Duke, winner of four straight games, is coming off a dramatic 68-66 win over 19th-ranked Clemson on Thursday. The Tigers overcame a five-point deficit in the final 12 seconds of play, but David McClure’s layup as the buzzer sounded secured the win for the Blue Devils. The victory was Duke’s 20th straight win over Clemson.

Sophomore Josh McRoberts recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds. He was 7-of-14 from the field, including 1-of-1 from three-point range. DeMarcus Nelson added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Greg Paulus had 13 points and a team-high five assists.

Freshman Jon Scheyer also reached double-figures with 12 points. The Northbrook, Ill., native also had five rebounds and four assists, including an assist on the game-winning bucket. McClure finished with eight points, six rebounds, one block and a steal in a career-high 34 minutes of action.

Duke led by 11 at the half (36-25) but Clemson’s defense tightened and held the Blue Devils to 33.3 percent (9-of-27) shooting in the second half. Duke overcame the cold shooting by outrebounding the Tigers 40-24, including 17-6 on the offensive glass. The Blue Devils also had a 19-4 edge in second chance points in the win.

Storylines

  • Duke leads the all-time series with Boston College 6-1, including a 2-0 mark at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils have won five straight in the series and are 5-1 under Mike Krzyzewski against the Eagles. Duke posted a pair of two-point victories, including an 78-76 win in the ACC Championship game, over Boston College last season.
  • Duke has won four straight games since losing back-to-back contests to open ACC play. Three of the four wins were by at least 20 points (+17.3 scoring margin) with the Blue Devils allowing just 56.2 points per game in that span.
  • The Blue Devils are shooting 50.5 percent from the field during their current four-game win streak. David McClure (70.6), Lance Thomas (75.0 pct.), Gerald Henderson (52.2 pct.), Josh McRoberts (54.1 pct.) and DeMarcus Nelson (52.3 pct.) are all shooting over 50.0 percent from the field during that stretch.
  • David McClure scored eight points, including the game winning layup at the buzzer, and grabbed six rebounds in Thursday’s 68-66 win over Clemson. He is second on the team in steals (30) and third in rebounds (5.3 rpg.), while playing 22.1 minutes per game. McClure is second in the ACC in rebounds (behind Boston College’s Shamari Spears - 6.2 rpg.) and steals (behind Georgia Tech’s Mario West - 36) by a non-starter. In the last four games, McClure is averaging 8.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He has also made 12-of-17 (70.6 pct.) shots from the field and 9-of-12 (75.0 pct.) free throws during that span.
  • Freshman Jon Scheyer knocked down 6-of-6 free throws against Clemson and has now made 25 straight free  throws (two behind Shane Battier for fifth-most in Duke history). He is shooting 86.3 percent (70-of-81) from the line this season, third-best in the ACC. Scheyer is also sixth in the ACC in three-point field goals (1.90 pg.) and eighth in minutes played (33.95 pg.).
  • Sophomore Josh McRoberts is currently averaging 12.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.35 blocks and 1.25 steals per game. No player in Duke history has averaged more than 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 steals for a season. Grant Hill (1993-94) is the only player in Duke history to average at least 10 points, five rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal per game. Only three players (Dick Groat - 1951-52; Danny Ferry - 1986-87 & 1988-89; Grant Hill - 1991-92 & 1993-94) have averaged at least 10 points, five rebounds and four assists per game in a season for the Blue Devils.
  • Greg Paulus is averaging 12.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game over the last 10 contests. He has reached double figures in scoring in eight of the 10 games and is shooting 48.2 percent (41-of-85) from the field, including 44.0 percent (22-of-50) from three-point distance in that time span. Paulus is averaging 14.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game during Duke’s current four-game win streak.
  • Junior DeMarcus Nelson has reached double-figures in scoring 17 times this season and is 17th in the ACC in scoring at 14.4 ppg. He is also ninth in the league in field goal percentage (.510 - 106-of-208). Nelson leads the team in steals with 31 and is second in rebounding at 5.5 rpg. He is just one of three guards (joining N.C. State’s Gavin Grant and Boston College’s Sean Marshall) in the ACC averaging more than five rebounds per game.
  • Duke posted a 40-24 rebounding advantage, including a 17-6 edge on the offensive glass, in Thursday’s win over Clemson. Josh McRoberts (6) and DeMarcus Nelson (4) combined for 10 of Duke’s 17 offensive rebounds. The Blue Devils turned the rebounding advantage into a 19-4 edge in second chance points. Duke ranks third in the ACC in rebounding margin at +6.9 rpg.
  • The Blue Devils have 19 home games on the schedule this season, the most in school history. The previous high was 17 during the 1996-97 season. Duke went 15-2 at Cameron Indoor Stadium that season. The school record for home wins in a season is 16, set in 1990-91 when the team was a perfect 16-0 at home. Duke is 13-1 at home this season.
  • Shelden Williams will become the 12th player to have his jersey retired at halftime of the Boston College game on Jan. 28. Williams closed his career as the first player in NCAA history to register 1,750 points, 1,200 rebounds, 400 blocks and 150 steals in a career. He holds Duke records for career rebounds (1,262) and blocks (422), as well as single-season blocks (137). Williams is also 12th all-time at Duke with 1,928 career points. The Forest Park, Okla., native registered 59 career double-doubles, the second-most in Blue Devil history.
  • Duke will also retire J.J. Redick’s number 4 jersey on February 4 at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Redick will be the 13th player to be honored at “Retirement Day” at Duke, joining Dick Groat (10), Art Heyman (25), Jeff Mullins (44), Mike Gminski (43), Johnny Dawkins (24), Danny Ferry (35), Christian Laettner (32), Bobby Hurley (11), Grant Hill (33), Shane Battier (31), Jason Williams (22) and Shelden Williams (23).
