BLACKSBURG, Va. --- Duke’s Indoor Track and Field team completed its regular season on Saturday at the Virginia Tech Challenge. It was the second meet of the year for Duke in Blacksburg, Va., as they competed in the Virginia Tech Opener on Jan. 12-13.

Women’s: Senior Debra Vento competed in the high jump on Saturday afternoon and tied her season best height of 5’-10.0.” That mark not only re-qualified Vento for the ECAC championships, but is an NCAA provisional qualifying height as well. Vento placed second at the Virginia Tech Challenge in the event.

Junior Lara Jones qualified for the ECAC’s for the sixth time in as many tries this season in the pole vault. Jones vaulted 12’-0.50” on Saturday and placed sixth at the meet.

Men’s: Junior Peter Lewellen continued his postseason-qualifying weekend on Saturday in the men’s 400 meter dash. Lewellen ran the event in 49.14 seconds, good for eighth place and an IC4A qualifying time. It also gave Lewellen the third best all-time Duke mark in the 400. On Friday, Lewellen raced his way into the IC4A’s in the 500 meters with a time of 1:04.73.

Senior Dan King extended his season success with his IC4A qualifying time of 21.99 seconds in the 200 meter sprint. He improved his personal best and thus moved from fourth to second on the all-time Duke 200 meter list. King had already qualified twice for the IC4A’s in the 400 meters this year.

A Look Ahead: Duke will compete next weekend in the ACC Indoor Championships from Feb. 22-24 in Clemson, S.C. The Blue Devils will not host a meet until the outdoor season, when there will be two in Durham. The Duke Invitational is Apr. 6-7 and the Duke Twilight is May 6, and both will be held at Wallace Wade Stadium.
