2016-17: Competed in eight events during the indoor season and in five events during the outdoor portion of the schedule…Ran a season-best 7.11 in the 60m at the Armory Invitational (2/4)…Finished in fifth place in the long jump at the VT Challenge (2/18) with a personal-best jump of 22-9.00 (6.98)…Jumped a season-best 23-7.25 (7.08) in the long jump at the Virginia Grand Prix (4/29)…Qualified for the ACC Outdoor Championships (5/14) in the same event and finished in 14th place…Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll. 

2015-16: Did not compete during the indoor or outdoor season…named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the second consecutive year. 

2014-15: Indoors, produced the Blue Devil men’s top 60m dash time of the season, clocking a 7.08 in the prelims at the Virginia Tech Elite (2/6) to finish 14th…ran a prelim time of 7.14 to take 21st at the Hokie Invitational (1/23)…kicked off his first meet in a Blue Devil uniform by running a prelim time of 7.21 at the Carolina Cup (1/16), then placed eighth in the finals with a 7.20…competing in the long jump, logged a season-best mark of 21-9.00 (6.63) to claim 16th at the Hokie Invitational (1/24)…placed fifth at the Carolina Cup (1/16) after leaping 21-7.50 (6.59)…did not compete during the 2015 outdoor season…named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

Prior to Duke: Lettered four years in track & field at Grandview High School in Aurora, Colo., under the direction of coach John Reyes...was a first team all-state selection his sophomore, junior and senior seasons…earned all-conference honors all four years…set school records in the 4x100, high jump and long jump…as a senior, took home four medals from the state meet, placing second in the long jump, sixth in both the high and triple jump, and second in the 4x100 relay…finished fourth at the state meet in the long jump as a junior…won gold at the conference meet in the long jump as a senior…also earned first-place finishes at the USATF state and regional meets…qualified for the Stanford Invitational as a senior...lettered three years for the Grandview High basketball team…member of the National Honor Society and was an AP scholar.

Personal: The son of Phillip and Sylvia Smith…born Feb. 12, 1996 in Denver, Colo.…has one sister, Dominique Alexandrea Bargaineer.
