Kerry Mullenix, a native of Woodbine, Iowa, serves as the Director of Athletic Rehabilitation for all of the Blue Devil teams in addition to assisting with Football athletic training coverage. Prior to entering his current role, Mullenix was the primary Athletic Trainer for the Duke University Baseball and Wrestling teams from 1998-2002. Kerry also works closely with the Duke Physical Therapy program serving as a Clinical Coordinator for the Duke Division I Sports Physical Therapy Fellowship and a Clinical Instructor for physical therapy & athletic training students.

Mullenix earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He chose to stay in Nebraska to earn his Master of Physical Therapy degree from University of Nebraska Medical Center. Kerry frequently seeks continuing education opportunities which have led to him becoming a Certified Dry Needling practitioner and utilizing Total Motion Release techniques.

Professionally, Kerry has co-authored a chapter for the Oxford American Handbook of Sports Medicine, which was published in 2010. He and other Duke Athletic Medicine staff members performed a study reviewing “Case Series of First Metatarsophalangeal Joint Injuries in Division 1 College Athletes”. The study was published in Sports Health in 2014. Kerry has made numerous professional presentations locally, regionally, nationally, and for Japanese National Athletic Training Symposium in Tokyo.
