The defending national champion Syracuse Orange sit atop the poll with 176 points overall and five first-place votes. Virginia comes in at No. 3 with 162 points and North Carolina and Johns Hopkins round out the top five, respectively.
Overall, all four ACC teams are ranked among the top seven with Maryland holding the seventh spot. Duke's 2010 schedule features nine teams ranked among the top 20, including four in the top 10.
Captained by seniors Ned Crotty, Parker McKee, Sam Payton and Max Quinzani, Duke returns seven starters and 31 letterwinners from last season's ACC Championship squad. The Blue Devils have won seven ACC titles and advanced to the NCAA Semifinals in each of the past three seasons.
Duke recently upended the U.S. Lacrosse national team 9-8 in Orlando, Fla. The Blue Devils officially kick off the 2010 season on Feb. 13 versus No. 19 Bucknell in Atlanta, Ga.
