Duke Takes on UNC in NCAA Quarterfinal

The fifth-seeded Blue Devils will travel to Princeton, N.J., to take on ACC foe  and No. 4 seed North Carolina in the NCAA Quarterfinal on May 22 at 2:30 p.m. ... ESPNU will broadcast the game live with Eamon McAnaney and Quint Kessenich calling the action ... Duke defeated Johns Hopkins 18-5 in the first round of the tournament to set up a rematch with the Tar Heels.

Duke-North Carolina Series History

Duke and North Carolina are meeting for the 65th time since the first varsity meeting in 1943 ... The Tar Heels hold a 38-26 advantage in the series and won the most recent meeting 13-7, on March 10, 2010 ... Prior to that loss, the Blue Devils had won 11 straight over the Tar Heels ... This will be the fourth time overall and third time in the past four seasons the two teams have met in the NCAA Tournament ... Duke head coach John Danowski has mentored some of the nation's top scorers during his coaching career ... In each of the past four seasons, he coached the nation's top point scorer with Chris Unterstein and Athan Iannucci (80 points apiece at Hofstra in 2006), Matt Danowski (96 points at Duke in 2007 & 97 points at Duke in 2008)  and Ned Crotty (78 points at Duke in 2009) leading the country in points ...
