DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke men's cross country team will be toasting the end of an outstanding season tonight with an awards banquet highlighting several student-athletes. Receiving top honors will be senior Bo Waggoner. Waggoner captured All-ACC accolades for his fourth consecutive year.
Additionally, Waggoner was joined by James Kostelnik, Cory Nanni and Andrew Brodeur in garnishing All-Southeast Region honors en route to a team second place finish at this year's Southeast Regional meet held in Louisville, Ky.
Five other Blue Devils will be celebrating All East honors. Mike Moverman, Brian Atkinson, Dominick DeMatteo, Dominick Robinson and Clint McKelvey, who was also named Freshman of the Year, all contributed to Duke capturing their third consecutive IC4A title.
The numerous personal accolades only highlight the success of the team as a whole. In addition to their IC4A title, the Blue Devils went through their first month and a half of races undefeated with a notable win at the Roy Griak Invitational. The win led to the Blue Devils being ranked 9th in the country by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the highest ranking the men have ever received.
The banquet tonight will grant the athletes the opportunity to take stock and enjoy the success of the past year while many of the runners prepare for the upcoming indoor track season.
