DURHAM, N.C. - Duke Track & Field/Cross Country will host a ceremony in honor of Sally Meyerhoff (Duke '07) on Sunday morning, April 10. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the Fitness Loop of the Al Buehler Trail. After the ceremony, there will be an optional recreational run around the Al Buehler Trail.

Meyerhoff passed away in a cycling accident on March 8 in Maricopa, Arizona. Meyerhoff was preparing for the 2012 United States Olympic Marathon Trials after recently winning the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon on January 17.

Meyerhoff became the first Duke woman to win an ACC Cross Country individual title in 2004, which also helped the Blue Devils win their first ever ACC Cross Country team championship. Meyerhoff was a three-time All-America honoree in cross country and track & field.

Duke Track & Field will host the 2011 Duke Invitational on April 8 and 9. The women's 3,000-meter event (scheduled for 5:50 p.m. on Friday, April 8) will now be named the Sally Meyerhoff 3,000-meters. Meyerhoff won the 3,000-meter event at the 2008 Duke Invitational in 9:19.59.
