DURHAM, N.C. - The 10th-ranked Blue Devils closed out the regular season with a 5-2 victory against No. 25 Miami on Senior Day at Ambler Tennis Stadium to honor seniors Reid Carleton, Alain Michel and Jared Pinsky.

Carleton helped lead Duke to the win as he was one of five Blue Devils to capture singles victories on the day. He defeated Keith Crowley 6-4, 6-4 for his 31st win of the season and 98th career win.

Duke needed the five singles victories as they fell behind early in the match after Miami won the No. 2 and 3 doubles contests for the first point. The Blue Devils did get a win at the top spot as Carleton and Henrique Cunha cruised to an 8-1 victory to improve to 32-5 overall and 9-2 in conference play.

Junior Luke Marchese and freshman Chris Mengel gave the Blue Devils an early boost in singles. Marchese fell behind 3-0 in the first set but won four straight games to take the lead. He went on to win the first set 6-4 and took care of business in the second, 6-2, for his 15th win of the season. He has now won at least nine ACC matches in each of the last three seasons as he is 28-5 all-time in his career in league matches.

Mengel tied the school record for most ACC singles wins, posting his 10th conference victory of the year against Waylon Chin 6-2, 6-3. Mengel tied the mark set by Marchese last year. His 10 ACC victories are a school record for a freshman, breaking Marchese's total of nine from 2008-09.

After Carl Sundberg brought the Hurricanes to a tie with Duke at 2-2, the top two Blue Devils closed out their matches in straight sets. Carleton was the first to win and then Cunha closed out his match with Christian Blocker 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the team win. Cunha has now won 70 career singles matches in just two seasons and finished conference play with a 9-2 record.

Junior Torsten Wietoska went three sets with Eduardo Pavia. Wietoska dropped the opening set but had no trouble in the next two as he took the win 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Duke ends the regular season with an 18-8 overall record and finish conference play with a 9-2 ledger. The Hurricanes are now 14-7 on the year with an 8-3 mark in league matches.

Both teams will wait for the ACC Tournament seedings to be released to find out when they play next weekend. The ACC Tournament will take place April 21-24 at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
