Duke is 20-9 on the season

DURHAM, N.C. - In an announcement Tuesday on ncaa.com, the Duke men's tennis team found out that it would be hosting one of the 16 regional sites for the NCAA Team Championships.

The Blue Devils (20-9) are the No. 11 overall seed in the tournament and will welcome George Washington (15-8), Maryland (12-12) and Michigan (13-10) to Durham for the NCAA Regionals. Matches will take place on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14. The first match on Friday will take place at 10 a.m. with the second match scheduled for 1 p.m. The winners of the two matches will play on Saturday at 3 p.m. for a spot in the NCAA Championships in Palo Alto, Calif. May 19-24.

"Our program is thrilled to host the first two rounds of this year's NCAA Championships," said head coach Ramsey Smith. "We've had a great season so far and have worked really hard to earn the top seed in our regional. This is the most exciting time of the year for college tennis and we are looking forward to getting the championships started on our home courts."

Two of the three teams in the Durham Regional played Duke earlier this season in Durham. The Blue Devils split two matches with Michigan, winning 7-0 in the ITA Kickoff Weekend and losing 4-3 a month later. Duke claimed a 6-1 victory over Maryland in ACC play. Duke leads the all-time series with its first round opponent, 6-1, but has not faced George Washington since 1959.

Duke will host for the second straight year and 10th time in school history. The Blue Devils have a 16-2 record all-time when hosting an NCAA regional, including wins over VCU and North Carolina last season to advance to the round of 16. Duke will be making its 20th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 21st overall in school history. The Blue Devils own an all-time record of 36-20 in the tournament.

Selections for the NCAA individual singles and doubles championships will be announced on ncaa.com tomorrow.

Ticket prices for all NCAA Tournament tennis matches are $5 for adults and $3 for students/seniors. Tickets can be purchased outside the stadium on the day of the match. Parking will be available in the Blue Zone which can be accessed off Duke University Road.
