DURHAM, N.C. – A total of 17 Duke players are currently playing baseball this summer, including two-way sophomore pitcher Marcus Stroman who is representing the country on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

Stroman is off to a dominant start with Team USA, striking out all seven batters he’s faced this summer. He struck out the side in order in consecutive appearances over the last two days and is now less than one week away from leading Team USA into its five-game series with Japan on July 3-8.

Several other Blue Devils have also gotten off to hot starts with their summer teams, including Matt Berezo in the Prospect League, Chris Marconcini in the Valley League, and Mike Rosenfeld and Aaron Cohn in the Atlantic Collegiate League.

He followed by retiring the side in order for the second straight day on Monday against the NECBL All-Star Team in Fenway Park. Stroman has now faced seven batters and struck out each one in his four-game stint with Team USA. He has thrown 30 pitches, 25 of which are strikes. The 5-9, 185-pound right-hander has also made one start as the designated hitter, scoring a run and laying down a sacrifice bunt in that game.

Pitching Stats: 4 Starts, 0-3, 4.03 ERA, 22.1 IP, 22 K, 8 BB, 23 H, 10 ER, .280 B/Avg.
Despite going at least five innings in each of his four starts and holding opponents to three runs or less in three of those outings, Bebout is still winless for the Wilson Tobs. A lack of run support has played a role in that, as the Tobs have scored just seven runs in the games Bebout has started. The 6-6, 200-pound right-hander has still managed 22 strikeouts against just eight walks in his 22 innings. He is part of Wilson’s four-man starting rotation and will get another turn early this week.

He has been especially hot of late, tagging multiple hits in four of his last six games, including a 3-for-4 performance on Sunday in which he hit his first home run of the summer.
