Capra is the lone amateur to be playing in the professional league, which opened its 36th season on the evening of July 4. The Philadelphia Freedoms dropped its match against the Springfield Lasers, 24-13. Capra will see on the opposite court the likes of former No. 1 players in the world, Venus Williams, Martina Hingis and Lindsay Davenport.
Capra made noise in last year's U.S. Open when she defeated Karolina Sprem of Croatia in straight sets and then knocked off 18th-seeded Aravane Rezai of France in three sets. Her run ended in the third round when she lost 6-0, 6-0 to recent Wimbledon finalist Maria Sharapova.
The Philadelphia Freedoms will next take on the Washington Kastles featuring Venus Williams on Wednesday, July 6. For complete information on the WTT, visit www.WTT.com.
