DURHAM, N.C. -Junior Madeline Morgan was named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week after qualifying to compete at the 2011 NCAA Cross Country Championships as an individual with a sixth-place showing Saturday at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Louisville, Ky. Morgan clocked a personal-best 20.28.3 for 6K to earn All-Southeast Region honors for the second consecutive year while leading the Duke women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish in the region.
The Birmingham, Ala., native will represent the Blue Devils at the NCAA Championships on Monday, Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind. In addition, Morgan was also Duke's top performer two weeks ago at the 2011 ACC Championships in Clemson, S.C., crossing the finish line 11th overall to garner All-ACC recognition for the second time in her career.
