DURHAM, N.C. -  Duke University women’s soccer standouts Natasha Anasi, Kaitlyn Kerr and Laura Weinberg have been invited to train with the United States U-23 National Team from Jan. 15-22 in Sarasota, Fla.

This will be the first opportunity for Anasi and Weinberg to compete with the U-23 squad, after Duke redshirt junior Ashley Rape played with the team last year.  Kerr will not be in camp as she is recovering from offseason surgery.  The Blue Devil duo are two of 24 players set to play in the first training camp of 2012.

The Duke trio are coming off leading the Blue Devils to a 22-4-1 overall record in 2011 and advancing to the NCAA College Cup for the first time since 1992.  Anasi, who is out of Arlington, Texas, guided a Duke defense that registered a school-record 16 shutouts on the season, earned NSCAA First Team All-America and ACC Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

A native of Boca Raton, Fla., Weinberg registered eight goals, four assists and 20 points to go along with two game-winning tallies.  With her five goals in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, Kerr became Duke’s all-time goal scorer in NCAA action with six in only two years.  The 5-5 sophomore midfielder finished the season with 11 goals, including six game-winners.  She was a NSCAA Third Team All-America honoree.
