Kevin Ortega joined the Duke University Athletic Training staff in October of 2011 and works primarily with the Duke football and swimming and diving teams.
A native of Newark, N.J., Ortega graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2009 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Athletic Training. He then went on to serve as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Oklahoma, working primarily with the football and gymnastics teams. Ortega graduated with a Master's in Human Relations in 2011.
Ortega came to Duke after serving as an assistant athletic trainer within the Houston Astros baseball club during the 2011 season. Ortega has been a member a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association since 2007. He also became certified as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist in October 2010.
