COLUMBUS, Ohio - Duke senior Tristan Jones finished the first day of the NCAA Men's Fencing Championships at Ohio State in 10th place in the men's epee standings. Fellow epee Dylan Nollner ranks 17th, and junior saber Anthony Lin sits in 14th place.

Jones, in his second trip to the NCAA Championships, posted an 8-6 record on day one of the competition and will have a chance to climb the standings during the continuation of the round robin first round on Sunday.

Lin, in his third consecutive trip to the NCAAs, split his 14 matches to finish 7-7 on the day. Among Lin's seven victories were a 5-2 win over Yale's Nathaniel Benzimra, who is in fourth place, and Harvard's Valentin Staller, who is in fifth place.

Nollner, a sophomore in his second straight trip to the national championships, went 5-9 on day one. A member of the USA Junior National Fencing Team, Nollner took down Notre Dame's James Kaull who is in sixth place.

Each of those three Blue Devils will fence 10 bouts on Sunday with the goal of moving into the top four to move on to the championship rounds.
