DURHAM, N.C. - Duke junior Emily Theys has been invited to participate in the 2012 USRowing Women's U23 National Team Camp this summer in Syracuse, N.Y., and Princeton, N.J..

The camp will start in Syracuse, N.Y. on May 29th where the fastest combinations of athletes for the Open Women's 8+ and 4x will be selected. The camp will then move to Princeton, N.J. to finalize the selection of rowers and coxswains that will compete at the 2012 World Rowing U23 Championships July 11-15 in Trakai, Lithuania.

The camp also plans to select crews for the women's 4-, 2- and 2x to compete at the U23 Trials June 24-27 in West Windsor, N.J. Athletes that do not make the U23 Team will join the Pre-Elite Camp and continue training in the Princeton area and compete at Club Nationals July 11-15 in Camden, N.J.

Last year, Theys participated in the camp and made the 2011 U23 Worlds Team racing in the women's quadruple sculls (W4x) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 2010, Theys participated in the pre-elite camp and finished by racing at the USRowing Club Nationals in Oak Ridge, Tennessee winning a gold medal in the senior eight.
