DURHAM, N.C. - After posting a record of 9-2 in conference play this spring, the eighth-ranked Duke men's tennis team earned the No. 3 seed in the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championship, which begins Thursday, Apr. 19 at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. The Blue Devils received a first-round bye and will play in Friday's quarterfinals at 3 p.m. against the winner of the first-round matchup between sixth-seeded NC State and 11th-seeded Boston College.

Under the direction of head coach Ramsey Smith, the Blue Devils notched nine ACC wins during the regular season, matching the program record set by the 2006, 2010 and 2011 squads. With an overall ledger of 20-4 heading into the tournament, Duke has also reached the 20 wins mark for the third-straight season and the 22nd time in school history.

The Blue Devils' lineup features three players currently ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's singles poll. Junior Henrique Cunha leads the way at No. 4, while sophomore Chris Mengel is ranked No. 36 and senior Torsten Wietoska No. 115. Cunha and Mengel also comprise the 15th-ranked doubles tandem in the nation.

Sixth-seeded NC State (19-8, 5-6 ACC) and No. 11 seed Boston College (6-14, 1-10 ACC) will meet on Thursday at 3 p.m., with Duke facing the winner of that match on Friday, Apr. 20 at 3 p.m. The Blue Devils defeated both potential opponents during the regular season, edging the Wolfpack by a 4-3 margin and sweeping the Eagles, 7-0.

Saturday's semifinal matches will be played at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by the championship match on Sunday, Apr. 22 at 11 a.m.
