DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke men's golf team is ranked 17th in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division 1 College Coaches' Poll as announced by Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of American (GCAA).

The Blue Devils, who are second among ACC schools, are coming off a sixth place finish at the ACC Championship at Old North State Club last weekend, where juniors Adam Sumrall and Julian Suri finished in the top-20 for the Blue Devils. Duke has won one team title, while notching five second place finishes so far this season.

Texas, with seven team titles in 10 starts, remains the top team in the Division 1 poll. The Longhorns, who will compete in the Big 12 Championship this weekend, earned 14 of the 18 available first-place votes.

Auburn moved up one spot to the No. 2 position, while Alabama fell to No. 3.  However, after the poll closed, the Crimson Tide defeated the Tigers by six strokes to claim their third SEC title in program history.  This victory marks the fourth team title for the Tide this season.

Rounding out the top five are UCLA (No. 4) and California (No. 5). The UCLA Bruins are coming off a third place finish at the Western intercollegiate, while the Golden Bears placed fifth.  Both teams are set to play in the PAC-12 Championship this weekend.

New to the top 10 is Georgia Tech, after they captured their fourth straight ACC Championship team title last weekend.  The Yellow Jackets fired a 27-under 837, and had four players finishing in the top 10.

The complete results, including results from Division II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the April 30, 2012 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online:
