Friday's action was highlighted by rising junior Lauren Weaver's performance in the 50-meter freestyle. The Cincinnati, Ohio native posted a time of 25.93 during the Midday Meet to earn an Olympic Trials cut and edge a field of 12 other swimmers in the event.
Rising senior Jim Zuponeck qualified for Friday evening's finals session in two events, making the cut in both the 50 and 100-meter breaststroke. Zuponeck clocked 1:04.89 to finish tied for 21st in the 100 breast preliminaries before taking 22nd in the event finals with a time of 1:05.18. He also notched a 13th-place finish in the finals of the 50 breast, recording a time of 29.44.
Friday morning's session saw rising sophomore Megan McCarroll place 21st in the prelims of the 50-meter backstroke, touching at 30.47. McCarroll also competed in the 100-meter backstroke at the Midday Meet, taking first in 1:04.02. Meanwhile, Ali Horn earned a second-place finish in the 200-meter butterfly during the afternoon session, posting a time of 2:27.62.
Rising senior Cara Vogel joined McCarroll in the prelims of the 50 back, touching in 31.06 to finish 29th overall. Duke's Hunter Knight took 42nd in the prelims of the 100 breast at 1:06.30 and Ted Minturn clocked 2:00.03 in the 200-meter freestyle to come in 86th. Rising sophomore Katherine Plevka notched a time of 1:17.67 in a 59th-place performance in the 100 breast prelims.
Duke was also well-represented in Thursday's action in Charlotte, as former Blue Devil Ashley Twichell placed second in the finals of the 1,500-meter freestyle with a time of 16:25.25.
