DURHAM, N.C. – Today’s Summer Spotlight features senior wide receiver Conner Vernon, who enters the 2012 season just 10 pass receptions away from becoming Duke’s all-time leader.

A native of Miami, Fla., Vernon has twice earned All-ACC honors during his tenure at Duke and, through three seasons, has amassed 198 catches for 2,675 yards and 13 touchdowns.  In addition, he is the NCAA’s active leader in both career receptions and receiving yardage and owns a current streak of 35 straight games with at least one catch, also the nation’s top mark.

Last year, Vernon became the first player in ACC history to post multiple seasons with 70-plus receptions.  He is the only active player nationally to have three seasons with 50 or more catches.  He will begin his senior campaign aiming to become the first player in ACC history to post four seasons with 50-plus receptions and 700-plus receiving yards.

The Blue Devils open the 2012 season with a home contest against FIU on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m.  Duke season tickets are available online at www.GoDuke.com/tickets or by calling the Duke Athletic Ticket Office at 919-681-BLUE.
