DURHAM, N.C.-Incoming Duke University soccer player Zach Mathers will be aiming to come into the Blue Devils' preseason camp in August a national champion. The native of Keller, Texas hopes to lead the Solar Chelsea to the 2012 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Finals title. Action begins July 16 in Houston.

Mathers, a midfielder, leads Solar Chelsea this season with 14 goals. He helped guide the squad to an unblemished 3-0 record in the Academy Playoffs in Frisco, Texas at the end of June. He tallied a goal in the final game, leading Solar to a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Fire to close out the playoffs.

Academy Finals week begins July 16 with Solar Chelsea taking on Baltimore Bays Chelsea at 10 p.m. (ET). Chelsea continues group play July 18 against Chivas USA at 9 p.m., and concludes its Group 2 action July 20 versus FC Dallas at 10 p.m.

The placement matches will be held July 22 with the championship game coming at 9 p.m.
