TURKU, FINLAND - The United States under-19 men's national team moved one step closer to winning the gold medal at the 2012 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championship today with a commanding 22-2 victory over Germany in the quarterfinals. The U.S. will next try to avenge the recent loss to the Iroquois Nationals in the semifinal round.

Duke sophomores Kyle Keenan and Kyle Turri again were front and center as the U.S. squad cruised to victory. Keenan posted two goals and three assists in the victory, while Turri had one save in his second starting assignment in goal.

The United States raced out to a 9-1 halftime lead and added nine third-quarter goals to earn the 20-goal win over the German squad to set up the semifinal rematch.

With the win, the U.S. (3-2) advances to play the second-seeded Iroquois (3-1) in the semifinal round at 1 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, July 19. The Iroquois beat the U.S. 15-13 on Tuesday in both teams' final pool play game.

Top-seeded Canada (4-0) faces England, a 17-8 winner over the Czech Republic on Wednesday, in Thursday's first semifinal at 5 p.m. in Finland. The championship game will be played at 4 p.m. Saturday. The U.S. has won all six gold medals contested since sanctioned U19 international competition began in 1988.
