DURHAM -- Featured in today’s summer spotlight is redshirt senior defensive end Kenny Anunike, who enters the 2012 season as Duke’s most experienced and dynamic pass rusher.
Anunike was one of the most feared defensive linemen in the ACC last season before a knee injury ended his season in week four. Prior to the injury, Anunike was the ACC leader with 4.0 sacks and 5.0 tackles for loss as nine of his 13 tackles through his first four games came behind the line of scrimmage.
A former tight end who made the switch to defensive end during the spring of 2010, Anunike has appeared in 29 games with 37 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. In the post-spring weightlifting evaluation, he posted team highs in the bench press (465 lbs.) and 225-pound bench press repetitions (29).
The Blue Devils open the 2012 season with a home contest against FIU on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. Duke season tickets are available online at www.GoDuke.com/tickets or by calling the Duke Athletic Ticket Office at 919-681-BLUE.
