DURHAM, N.C.— With one week left before the 2012 Duke women’s soccer team reports to campus, the Blue Devil locker room renovation project is just about completed. Recently the name plates for the lockers were put in, a stereo system was installed, a phone charging station was installed and a Duke logo was placed on the carpet.
The finishing touches of new display boards for the walls and a white board will be installed over the next week.
The Blue Devils are coming off advancing to the 2011 NCAA College Cup, while posting a school-record 22 victories. Duke registered just the second Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season title with an 8-1-1 record and the NCAA College Cup appearance was the first since 1992. As a team, the Blue Devils posted a school-record 16 shutouts.
Duke returns all 11 starters in 2012, while welcoming another standout recruiting class to the mix. Coming off scoring 55 goals last year, the Blue Devils return 91.0 percent of their scoring this season.
