DURHAM, N.C. -  The All-Star break has come and gone, and MLS teams are fighting to remain in playoff contention as the second half of the season begins. A number of former Blue Devils are either playing for or coaching a MLS team. Real Salt Lake head coach Jason Kreis has led his squad to second place in the Western Conference, while 1st overall pick Andrew Wenger continues to have an impact on Montreal coming off the bench.

Darrius Barnes - D - New England Revolution

4 GP - 4 GS - 215 minutes played

Barnes has played in just four games this season for 215 minutes. Barnes has been troubled by injuries including an adductor strain, a calf strain, and irritation in his foot which have limited his time on the field.  The Revolution is 6-10-5 overall and sits in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Cole Grossman - M - Columbus Crew

5 GP - 3 GS - 328 minutes played

Grossman earned his fifth career start for the Columbus Crew in a 2-1 win over Sporting KC on Saturday. He has played 328 minutes in the midfield for the 8-7-4 Crew. Columbus is in sixth place in the Eastern Conference and currently just outside the playoff picture with 28 points.

Jay Heaps - New England Revolution Head Coach

Heaps has coached New England to a 6-10-5 overall record. Following a strong start, the Revolution has struggled as of late, and has fallen to ninth place in the Eastern Conference. Despite these struggles, the Revolution is only five points behind sixth-place Columbus Crew and nine points behind fifth-place place Chicago Fire. The top five teams in each conference make the playoffs.

Jason Kreis - Real Salt Lake Head Coach

Kreis has led Real Salt Lake to yet another outstanding season. RSL is 13-7-3 overall placing them in second place in the Western Conference, and two points behind first place San Jose Earthquakes. It has scored 35 goals, allowed 27 and has won four of its last five games.

Robbie Russell - D - D.C. United

16 GP - 16 GS - 1,343 minutes played

Russell has played and started all 16 games in which he has appeared for D.C. United, which sports a 10-7-3 overall record placing them in fourth-place in the Eastern Conference with 33 points. On Saturday, D.C. United battled Paris Saint-Germaine to a 1-1 draw during the World Football Challenge.

Andrew Wenger - F - Montreal Impact

13 GP - 3 GS - 416 minutes played

As 2012's No. 1 draft pick, Wenger has scored three goals in 13 appearances for the Impact. With three starts on the year, Wenger contributes significant minutes off the bench for the expansion squad that is 8-13-3 overall. The Impact is currently in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, only five points behind the fifth-place Chicago Fire.

Mike Grella - F - Scunthorpe United (England)

Grella signed a two-year contract with Scunthorpe United (League One) in July 2012. Since moving to England in 2008, Grella has played with Leeds United (Championship League), and League One teams Bury, Carlisle United, and Brentford. During his time overseas, Grella has scored 17 goals in 87 games.
