DURHAM, N.C.— Since moving to the forward position in 2012, redshirt junior Kim DeCesare has become one of the top scorers in the nation with a career-high 12 goals this season as the ninth-ranked Blue Devil women’s soccer team prepares to start the postseason.

DeCesare, who is a product of Massapequa Park, N.Y., came off the bench in 25 of the 27 matches a year ago and notched five goals.  She played mostly on defense and in the midfield as the Blue Devils registered a school-record 16 goals.

Over the summer, head coach Robbie Church moved the 5-10 DeCesare to the forward slot and she has thrived with six goals over her first five matches of the year.  DeCesare was then injured her ankle early against San Diego and missed the next two matches.  She enters the postseason scoring four goals over the last five matches and leads Duke with five header goals.

DeCesare, who is a tri-captain this season, had scored only seven career goals prior to the 2012 campaign.  As the Blue Devils enter the postseason, DeCesare will play a big role in Duke vying to make it back to the NCAA College Cup.
