Cassie Pecht. The All-ACC honorees were determined by a vote of the 11 league head coaches.DURHAM, N.C. – The ACC released the 2012 All-ACC women’s soccer teams on Thursday morning with Duke receiving four Blue Devils on the squad, including ACC Freshman of the Year
The four All-ACC selections were Laura Weinberg on the first team, while Natasha Anasi, Kim DeCesare and Pecht on the second team. Pecht was also listed on the All-ACC Freshman team and became just the third Blue Devil to be named ACC Freshman of the Year.
For the third straight year, Weinberg was listed on the All-ACC teams, but this season marks the first year the 5-9 junior was selected to the first team. A product of Boca Raton, Fla., Weinberg has totaled an ACC-best 15 goals on the year to go along with seven assists for 37 points, which is tied for the ACC lead. Weinberg ranks ninth nationally in total goals and total points, while listing 11th in points per game (1.95) and goals per game (0.789).
In ACC matches only, Weinberg posted eight goals to rank second in the league, while her 18 points was tied for second. Her five overall game-winning goals ranks 10th nationally and tied for first in the ACC. Weinberg became the 10th three-time All-ACC selection in school history.
Anasi, who was the 2011 ACC Defender of the Year and first team All-ACC honoree, earned All-ACC accolades for the second straight season. A native of Arlington, Texas, Anasi has started all 19 matches for the Blue Devils as the center back defender. She has helped lead Duke to five shutouts on the season and played a team-high 1,684 minutes.
After moving to the forward position in 2012, DeCesare had a breakout 2012 campaign with 12 goals, six assists and 30 points. DeCesare, who is a 5-11 product of Massapequa Park, N.Y., ranks fourth in the ACC in points, fourth in goals and tied for 10th in assists. In the national rankings, DeCesare is 31st in goals and points, while being 25th in points per game (1.67) and 32nd in goals per game (0.667).
Pecht joined the Blue Devils in 2012 and made an immediate impact starting all 19 matches and tying for a league-leading 11 assists on the season. The 5-3 forward/midfielder accumulated five goals, 11 assists and 21 points on the year. Pecht, who is out of Mechanicsburg, Pa., ranks fifth nationally with 11 assists and seventh in assists per game (0.58).
In the Duke record books, Pecht ranks tied for fourth in single-season assists, tied for first on the Blue Devil freshman assist list and tied for sixth on the freshman point’s chart. Pecht joined only Casey McCluskey (2001) and Isis Dallis (1997) as ACC Freshman of the Year selections from Duke.
