Jermyn, who is in his ninth season as the Blue Devils' head coach, garnered the honor for the fourth time in his career. He previously received Southeast Region Coach of the Year accolades in 2004, 2005 and 2009.
Last weekend, Jermyn directed the Duke women to the program's fourth Southeast Region title with a 42-point margin over second-place William & Mary. Four Blue Devil runners finished inside the top 25 overall to earn spots on the all-region team, including senior Juliet Bottorff (second place), sophomore Kelsey Lakowske (ninth), sophomore Carolyn Baskir (12th) and graduate student Suejin Ahn (19th). Earlier this season, the Jermyn-led squad also recorded a second-place finish at the ACC Cross Country Championships.
With the first-place performance, the team automatically qualified for Saturday's NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Ky. The Blue Devil women own a record of 116-15 (23-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) heading into the championship meet, and will be joined in Louisville by the Duke men, who received an at-large berth to the NCAA Championships after taking fifth in the region.
