Rick King joined the Blue Devil staff in May of 2009, and currently serves as the Director of Development for Recreation and Physical Activity.
King, a native of Norwalk, Conn., graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 1995 with a degree in History. While in college, King was a three-time letter winner in soccer playing as goalkeeper for two years at UMASS-Amherst and one year at East Stroudsburg. Following graduation, King served as an assistant soccer coach at Western Connecticut State University, before playing professional soccer for the Connecticut Wolves in the A League in the 1999-00 season.
From 2000 to 2003, King was the Director of Goalkeeping at the New Orleans Soccer Academy while also working in ticket sales for the National Football League's New Orleans Saints.† King continued his work in soccer serving as the Director of Coaching and Head PDL Coach for the Indiana Invaders in 2005-06, before becoming Goalkeeper Coach for the University of Notre Dame men's team for the 2006-07 season. Following his year at Notre Dame, King was named first assistant coach of men's soccer at Valparaiso University.
King currently resides in Durham, N.C. with his wife, Nina, and their two children, Connor and Austin.
