KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Freshman Jaimee Gundry represented Duke in the women's platform competition on the final day of action at the Tennessee Diving Invitational.

Gundry, a native of Lightwater, Surrey, England, totaled a season-best 205.90 points on her list of five dives to finish 16th of 30 divers. Her highest-scoring dive came in the final round, where she earned a score of 47.50 from the judges on a back 1 ½ somersault with 1 ½ twists.

Gundry also competed in the preliminaries of the women's 3-meter springboard event Thursday, placing 26th with a score of 237.30.

Saturday marked the end of the three-day meet in Knoxville, which saw 2012 Olympic medalists Abby Johnston and Nick McCrory return to collegiate competition for the first time since March of 2011. Johnston came in 26th in the preliminaries of the women's 1-meter springboard event with a score of 227.80 and McCrory qualified for the finals of the men's 1-meter competition, taking second overall at 319.75 points. McCrory also advanced to the finals of the 3-meter event, along with teammate Jordan Long. McCrory scored 370.70 points in the finals to earn a third-place finish, while Long placed ninth with a score of 333.30. In addition, both McCrory and Long surpassed the NCAA Zone Diving Championships qualifying mark on the 3-meter board with their performances.

"This meet marks the end of our winter training and the beginning of the second half of the year," said diving coach Drew Johansen. "We have three meets in a row as we move through January and everyone is set up for a great finish to the season."

The Duke swimming and diving program returns to action Saturday, Jan. 12 when it hosts South Carolina at Taishoff Aquatic Center at 11 a.m. The Blue Devils will honor the program's 17 seniors prior to the start of the meet.
