DUKE OPENS ACC PLAY WITH WIN NO. 14
Duke picked up two more wins last week to stay unbeaten, taking down Davidson, 67-50, in Time Warner Cable Arena on Wednesday and Wake Forest, 80-62, at home in the ACC opener on Saturday. The win over the Demon Deacons was Duke's sixth consecutive ACC-opening win and improved Duke's record in ACC openers to 26-7 under head coach Mike Krzyzewski.

Duke's 14-0 start is the sixth such start in school history and third in the past nine seasons. All six of those 14-0 starts have come under Coach K. In those previous five seasons, Duke won the ACC every year, advanced to two NCAA Championships (1986 and 1992) and won 30 games four times. The best starts in school history came during the 1991-92 NCAA Championship season and the 2005-06 season when the Blue Devils started 17-0.

KELLY'S HOT SHOOTING CONTINUES
Senior forward Ryan Kelly continued to elevate his play last week, scoring 18 points against Davidson and a season-high 22 three days later against Wake Forest. Kelly has been one of the hottest shooters in the nation since the end of November, knocking down an unbelievable 65.5 percent (19-of-29) of his three-pointers over the last eight games. He was 8-of-11 on the week, hitting three treys against Davidson and a career-high five against Wake Forest.

On the season, the 6-foot-11 Kelly is shooting 50.0 percent (23-of-46) from three-point range which would rank as the third highest clip in school history if he keeps up the pace all the way to the 35 made three-point field goal minimum. Of the eight players on that list (both Trajan Langdon and Jeff Capel appear twice), Kelly is one of only two over 6-5. The other is Duke all-time great Christian Laettner, who at 6-11 set the single-season three-point percentage record by sinking 55.7 percent (54-of-97) of his treys during Duke's 1992 NCAA Championship season.

COOK FLIRTS WITH ASSIST RECORD
Sophomore point guard Quinn Cook fell just two assists shy of tying the single-game assist record of 16 set by Bobby Hurley on Feb. 24, 1993. Cook amassed 14 assists against Wake Forest, six of which set up Duke three-pointers. Even more impressive was that Cook committed only one turnover. His 14:1 assist-to-turnover ratio for the game ranks tied as the second best single-game mark in school history for games with a minimum of 11 assists. Cook's mark trails Hurley's 15:1 performance against NC State on Feb. 21, 1993 and matches Tommy Amaker's 14:1 outing against Miami on Feb. 19, 1986.

On the season, Cook is averaging 6.2 assists per game with a 2.7:1 assist-to-turnover ratio and an average of 10.3 points per game. The only Duke players to average at least 6.0 assists and 10.0 points per game are Bobby Hurley (1990, 1991, 1992, 1993), Dick Groat (1952), Jason Williams (2000, 2001) and Chris Duhon (2004).

CURRY NAMED CO-CAPTAIN
Seth Curry was named a team captain last week, a mid-season addition to his senior classmates and co-captains Ryan Kelly and Mason Plumlee. Curry has been a key factor in Duke's 14-0 start not only with his play, but with his leadership on the court. On New Year's Day, he was rewarded when Coach K announced that Curry would be joining Kelly and Plumlee as a captain. Said Curry, "It is a great honor to be named captain. I have been trying to lead all year, so it is great to have Coach K honor me by putting that label next to my name along with Ryan and Mason."

MARSHALL GETS FIRST BUCKET
The youngest of the Plumlees finally got on the board last week, scoring his first career points on Saturday against Wake Forest. Marshall Plumlee, a redshirt freshman and the youngest of Miles and Mason, handled a pass from classmate Quinn Cook and laid it in for his first career bucket. Duke photographer Jon Gardiner captured the post-basket celebration between the two here:

CAMPUS ROAR RETURNS TO DUKE UNIVERSITY
Nike Basketball's Campus Roar is back and for the third year in a row, and fans can impact a Duke University Nike T-shirt by sending in their "roar". What's a roar? A roar is a short cheer or phrase for the Blue Devils that you tweet using #NikeRoar and #Duke or post it in the comments on the Duke University Blue Devils Facebook page. The Campus Roar event runs from now until midnight on January 8. Nike will monitor the best submissions through Twitter and Facebook and will display the top submissions on the last day of the event. The best roar will be displayed on a Nike T-Shirt on sale this March. Get roaring Blue Devils.

TWEET YOUR QUESTIONS TO COACH CAPEL
Assistant coach Jeff Capel will join the Duke basketball radio crew after each of Duke's remaining home games to answer questions from fans during the "Tweet Coach Capel" segment. Fans can Tweet their questions to the official Twitter of the Duke Basketball Radio @DukeRadio. Tweets will be read on air and answered by coach Capel shortly after the conclusion of all Duke home games except Jan. 17 versus Georgia Tech.

STAT OF THE WEEK
On Saturday, Ryan Kelly netted 22 points in just 18 minutes of play against Wake Forest before fouling out of the game with just over seven minutes remaining. Not since the 2007-08 season has a Duke player scored more than 20 points in less than 20 minutes of play. The last to do it was a then-freshman Nolan Smith who came off the bench on Feb. 17, 2008, to score 21 points in 18 minutes against, of all teams, Wake Forest.
