Why did you choose Duke?
Duke has always been my dream school. It exemplifies every criterion I sought in a college. Duke has vigorous academics, a diverse student body and a strong field hockey program. The hockey program at Duke is the kind of environment that I know I will thrive in because it will push me to grow as player and a person but it is not so intimidating that I would fall out of love with the sport.
To be able to say that I am a member of the Duke Field Hockey Team is...
to say that I love field hockey. If you love the sport enough, training, lifting and running, don't seem so bad. With the love of the sport and the team first mentality, the Duke field hockey family has a unique environment that I cannot wait to be a part of.
What is your Most Memorable field hockey moment?
My most memorable field hockey moment was the last game of my senior season. I was out with a stress fracture in my foot, but watching my teammates perform that day was something I will never forget. Some of my younger teammates played the best hockey they had played ever and knowing that I had a part in that is an incredible feeling. Yes, I would have loved to be on the field playing with them, but me not being out there is what helped them play to their potential. We lost the game 2-1 but that proud moment watching from the sidelines is something I will carry with me forever.

What is the best piece of advice you ever received: In the 3rd grade before my first timed mile ever in PE, my coach told me that if I start hurting, if I pushed through I would be okay. At the time it seemed insignificant but I still think about that advice all the time, from a hard work out, or even just to a late night of studying, and it has helped me be where I am now.
What one thing has had the most impact on your life: The summer before my senior year, four of my best friends where in a horrific car accident. All were severely injured, and one was in a comma for over two weeks. All four now are back at school and fully recovered, but those few months of their recovery brought a new perspective for my friends and I. This tragic event strengthened our faith and friendship in a way that has made our senior year together that much more memorable.
Career ambition. What do you want to do after college and beyond: After college, I hope to attend law school and ultimately hope to enter environmental law.
