Baseball Travels to No. 7 Florida State This Weekend

DURHAM, N.C. – After nine straight home games, the Duke baseball team hits the road for a three-game series at No. 7 Florida State at Dick Howser Stadium. Game times are Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m., and Sunday at 11 a.m.
ESPN3 is set to broadcast Friday and Sunday’s games, while will stream Saturday’s contest. Steve Barnes will call the action for the Blue Devil Network’s audio broadcast, available through Fans can also follow updates via @Duke_BASE, the Duke baseball program’s official Twitter account.
The Blue Devils (21-14, 8-7 ACC) have won nine of their past 10 games heading into the weekend. Following a series win over No. 15 Georgia Tech, Duke picked up a pair of non-conference victories Tuesday and Wednesday at Jack Coombs Field.
Duke put a season-high 17 runs on the board Tuesday against UNC Greensboro, routing the Spartans 17-2. Redshirt sophomore Chris Marconcini totaled a career-high five RBI, belting a three-run triple and two-run homer in the contest. Three Blue Devils – junior Jordan Betts, freshman Kenny Koplove and senior Ryan Munger – had three hits apiece as Duke registered a season-high 18 as a team.
Sophomores Andy Perez and Grant McCabe combined for seven hits, while junior Mark Lumpa extended his hit steak to six games with a 2-for-3 performance in Duke’s 8-3 victory over cross-town foe N.C. Central Wednesday. Marconcini roped a three-run blast in the first, his seventh home run of the season and second in as many games.
Florida State (27-6, 10-5 ACC) took two-of-three from Miami over the weekend before falling to in-state rival Florida by a score of 4-3 Tuesday.
The Seminoles have won seven straight against the Blue Devils and lead the all-time series, 71-18. In 2012, Florida State swept the series in Durham, outscoring the Blue Devils 20-5.
Following the Florida State series, Duke plays host to North Carolina A&T in the second game of a home-and-home series Tuesday at Jack Coombs Field.
