A native of Chesapeake, Va., Dawkins sat out the 2012-13 season and received a redshirt. He will graduate from Duke in May with an undergraduate degree in African & African-American Studies and will enroll in graduate school for the 2013-14 academic year.
A career .401 three-pointer shooter, Dawkins has appeared in 109 games with 21 career starts. He has made 167 three-point field goals while averaging 6.9 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. As a junior in 2011-12, he averaged career highs with 8.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 made three-pointers per game with four 20-point efforts and 13 double-figure scoring games.
Dawkins will join a Duke backcourt that includes returnees Tyler Thornton, Quinn Cook and Rasheed Sulaimon.
