DURHAM, N.C. – The Major League Soccer (MLS) season is underway and a number of Duke soccer alums are making significant contributions to their teams around the league. Head coaches Jay Heaps and Jason Kreis return to the sidelines at the helm of the New England Revolution and Chicago Fire respectively, while 2012 No. 1 pick Andrew Wegner continues to provide attacking opportunities off the bench for the Eastern Conference-leading Montreal Impact.

Darrius Barnes - D - New England Revolution
Although Barnes has not seen the field yet this season, the Revolution has kicked off the season with a 1-2-2 record, putting them in 8th place in the Eastern Conference. The Raleigh, N.C., native recorded 13 appearances for the Revolution last season, starting in 11 matches and logging 1,017 minutes in the back for the team.

Cole Grossman - M – Real Salt Lake
1 GP - 1 GS - 77 minutes played
Grossman, who spent the past two seasons playing for the Columbus Crew, signed with Real Salt Lake in November of 2012 and has helped the squad post a 2-3-2 record, good enough for seventh place in the Western Conference. Grossman has appeared in one game this season, playing 77 minutes in a losing effort against FC Dallas March 23rd.

Jay Heaps - New England Revolution Head Coach
In his second season at the helm of the Revolution, Heaps has guided the team to a 1-2-2 start to the season, which puts them in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. The squad is coming off a 0-0 tie on Saturday with Seattle. Last year, the Revolution concluded the season in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with a 9-17-8 record.

Jason Kreis - Real Salt Lake Head Coach
Kreis has opened the season with a 2-3-2 record after tying Vancouver 1-1 Saturday April 13. Last season, Kreis led the squad to a second-place finish in the Western Conference, after recording a 17-11-6 overall record. Real Salt Lake returns to the field Saturday, April 20 when they play host to Chivas.

Robbie Russell - D - D.C. United
Russell has yet to play for D.C. United this season, as the team owns a 1-4-1 overall record. Last season, Russell appeared in 19 matches for D.C., logging 1,355 minutes on the field for the squad. D.C. United is next slated to take on Philadelphia Sunday, April 21st at 5 p.m. on ESPN2.

Michael Videira – M – Chicago Fire
2 GP – 1 GS – 84 minutes played
After logging only 40 minutes during his 2012 campaign with the Fire, Videira kicked of the 2013 season by playing in two games, including a start in a 0-0 tie against Kansas City March 16. The Fire has tallied a 1-4-1 record this season, currently leaving them in a tie for ninth place in the Eastern Conference. Vidiera and Chicago are slated to return to the field Saturday, April 20th when they play host to the Columbus Crew.

Andrew Wenger - F - Montreal Impact
4 GP – 0 GS - 59 minutes played
The No. 1 overall draft pick in 2012, Wenger has appeared in four matches during the 2013 campaign, helping the Impact to an Eastern Conference-leading 4-1-1 record. The Impact are coming off a home-opening 1-1 tie with the Columbus Crew Saturday and return to the field Saturday, April 20 as they travel to Toronto.

Mike Grella - F - Scunthorpe United (England)
14 GP- 14 GS – 2 Goals
Since joining Scunthorpe United last year, Grella has made an immediate impact for the team. Grella has appeared in 14 games for Scunthorpe, notching two goals and an assist. This season, Scunthorpe has tallied an 11-23-9 record in the npower League 1
