DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke baseball team is set for a home-and-home series against High Point this week, hosting the Panthers Tuesday before traveling to High Point Wednesday. The Blue Devils and the Panthers meet Tuesday at Jack Coombs Field at 6 p.m., before reuniting Wednesday at HPU’s Williard Stadium at 6 p.m.
The Blue Devil Network will stream Tuesday’s contest and provide an audio broadcast for both games, available through GoDuke.com. Chris Edwards will call the action both Tuesday and Wednesday.
High Point leads the all-time series 14-10 after the two teams split a home-and-series in 2011. Two seasons ago, the Panthers earned a 9-3 win at Jack Coombs Field before the Blue Devils claimed a 9-6 victory on the road. Duke is 7-6 when facing High Point at home, but falls to 3-8 against the Panthers on the road.
Over the weekend, Duke (22-20, 8-13 ACC) came up short in its three-game series against No 1. North Carolina. The Tar Heels swept the Blue Devils, earning 7-1 and 4-1 decisions in a doubleheader Saturday before taking Sunday’s series finale 10-1.
High Point (22-20, 9-6 Big South) has won seven of its past eight games entering the week, including a sweep of conference-foe UNC Asheville in its last outing. The Panthers topped the Bulldogs 8-5 Saturday before tallying a 3-2 win in 10 innings Sunday and a come-from-behind 7-6 victory Monday.
Following two straight weekends on the road, Duke welcomes Maryland to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park this coming weekend for a three-game ACC series.
