Other teams competing in the Central Region are Oklahoma, Florida, Washington, Arizona State, UC Davis, Texas Tech, N.C. State, Michigan State, Iowa State, Southern Methodist, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, Wake Forest, TCU, Gonzaga, Indiana, UTSA, Mississippi State, Wisconsin, Lamar, Illinois State, Detroit and Butler.  The following individuals will also be competing – Fanny Cnops (UNCG), Lori Beth Adams (UNCW), Emma Henrikson (San Diego State), Julie Roth (Central Arkansas), Paige Spiranic (San Diego State) and Christine Wong (San Diego State).

The regional will be a three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes played each day.  Duke will open action on Thursday, May 9 on hole No. 1 at 8:36 a.m., along with Florida and Oklahoma.  Duke will play in the Central Region for only the third time in school history (2006 and 2011).  The Blue Devils finished second in the 2006 regional in College Station, Texas, while placing ninth in 2011 at South Bend, Ind.

The top three seeds in the East Regional were Alabama, Arkansas and UCLA, while the top teams in the West Regional are Southern California, Arizona and Vanderbilt.

The top eight teams and top two individuals (not on one of those eight teams) advance on to the NCAA Championships to be played May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.  The Blue Devils have won a total of five NCAA Championships over the last 14 years ---1999, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Duke is currently ranked No. 3 nationally in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.  In the individual rankings, Blue Devil senior Lindy Duncan is No. 6, while junior Laetitia Beck is 18th, rookie Celine Boutier is 36th and junior Alejandra Cangrejo is 52nd.

The Blue Devils are coming off claiming their second straight and 18th overall ACC Championship on April 21.  Duke registered a three-day total of 882 at the ACC Championship and won the title by 24-strokes over N.C. State.  Four Duke golfers finished in the top six of the individual leaderboard – Beck (2nd), Duncan (T3rd), Cangrejo (T3rd) and Boutier (T6th).

Head coach Dan Brooks has guided the Blue Devils to five NCAA Championships (1999, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2007) and has taken his squad to the NCAA Regionals every year since 1993.  With Brooks’ leading Duke to the ACC title earlier this month, he has claimed 113 wins over his 29 years with the Blue Devils.  His teams have won at least one tournament in 28 of 29 years.
