Coach vs. Pupil
Sunday’s game between Duke and Marquette will feature a match-up between coach and player .. Duke head coach John Danowski will be going up against former player and assistant coach Joe Amplo from Hofstra ... Amplo helped lead the Pride to the NCAA quarterfinals in 1999 ... An All-America East pick as a senior, Amplo played in 58 games in his career, notching 91 ground balls ... Amplo also worked with Danowski as an assistant coach at Hofstra from 1999-2001 and 2003-2007

Fowler Named ACC Defensive Player of the Year
Junior Brendan Fowler was named the 2013 ACC Defensive Player of the Year in a vote of the league’s coaches ... This marks the second consecutive season a Blue Devil has won the award after CJ Costabile collected the inaugural honor ... Fowler led the charge at the faceoff X for the Blue Devils and currently ranks third nationally in win percentage and second in ground balls.

A Win over Marquette Would

Scouting Marquette
Marquette enters the regular season finale with a 5-7 overall record and a winner in three of its previous four contests ... The Blue Devils will be the Golden Eagles’ third top-20 opponent this season ... Tyler Melnyk is the top scorer with 38 points from 23 goals and 15 assists, while Conor Gately has 34 points ... Cullen Cassidy has handled the majority of the faceoffs, going 67-of-173 at the X with 20 ground balls ... Liam Byrnes is tops on the squad with 55 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers ... Between the pipes JJ Sagl has an 11.97 goals against average, a .463 save percentage and 113 saves ... Marquette is playing just its second game at home after defeating Detroit, 14-9, in the inaugural home game.

Led by junior Brendan Fowler at the faceoff X, Duke currently ranks third nationally in faceoff percentage (.627) with Fowler ranking third ... Most importantly, Duke gets stronger at the draw as the game goes on ... The Blue Devils win 57 percent of draws in the first half ... That rises to 69 percent in the second half, including 71 percent in the third quarter.

Duke is 53-58-1 all-time in the month of May ... The Blue Devils are 19-5 under head coach John Danowski in the month ... Duke has not played a regular season contest in May since a 13-7 loss to Army, May 7, 2004.

Duke Sports a Top Offense
Duke sports one of the highest scoring offenses in the country, ranking third in the category at 13.75 goals per game ... The Blue Devils are second in both points per game (21.81) and assists per game (8.06) ... All three are tops in the ACC ... Since 2007, Duke is 94-7 when scoring at least 10 goals in a game ... The Blue Devils are 11-22 when being held to fewer than 10 scores ... Duke is 25-23 when allowing 10 goals in a contest and is 79-6 when holding opponents under 10 goals.

Against Unranked Opponents
Since 2005, Duke is 51-3 against unranked opponents ... The Blue Devils’ losses to unranked foes all came against Ivy League schools ... Wolf’s 66 points this season have pushed him to 15th on the Duke career scoring chart with 182 points ... He is 16 points out of the top 10 ... In 56 career games, he has amassed 182 career points from 108 goals and 74 assists ... He tallied 51 points in his rookie season and had 65 points his sophomore campaign.

Wolf Reaches 100 Goals Mark
With five tallies in the win over Rutgers, Wolf joined the small fraternity of Duke players who have 100 career goals ... Wolf became the 15th Blue Devil to reach the milestone and currently has 108 ... He currently leads all Division I juniors in goals and ranks 14th among all active players ...  The most recent player to register 100-plus goals was Zach Howell, who finished with 134 ... Wolf is five goals shy of climbing into the top 10, while Zack Greer holds the all-time Duke record with 206.

Fowler Leads Faceoff Game
Junior Brendan Fowler has been outstanding at the X in his first season as the full-time draw man ... Fowler has won at least 10 draws in 15 of 16 games this season ... He owns a 64.7 percent success rate at the draw ... Fowler is one of four faceoff guys in Division I lacrosse to win at least 20 restarts in at least three games this season.

Fowler Leads Ground Ball Game
In addition to winning 16.1 faceoffs per game, Fowler is averaging 9.9 ground balls per game to rank second nationally ... The Wantagh, N.Y. native passed CJ Costabile’s single-season ground ball record this past weekend with 15 at North Carolina

Offit Coming Through in the Clutch
In Duke’s four wins by three or fewer goals, Offit has netted a crucial goal in the fourth quarter to help secure the win ... Against Loyola, the Bethesda, Md., native broke open a 6-6 tie with 9:40 left as Duke went on to win 9-8 ... He gave Duke a two-goal lead, 10-8, with 2:35 remaining versus North Carolina and then had the go-ahead goal against Harvard with 5:25 to play ... In the most recent victory over Virginia, Offit scored the tying goal and then assisted on the team’s 19th tally to secure the win ... In Duke’s monumental comeback effort at North Carolina, Offit had two goals and two assists, including the one that put the Blue Devils ahead for the first time in the eventual loss.

Wolf on Point Scoring Streak
With at least a point in all 16 games this season, Wolf has pushed his point scoring streak to 36 games, ranking sixth in Division I lacrosse ... In the past 36 games, the Wynnewood, Pa., native has 77 goals, 54 assists for 131 points ... He has been held without a point in just five games in his career and Duke is 1-4 in those contests ... Wolf was last held scoreless in the 2011 NCAA semifinal against Maryland - May 28, 2011.

NCAA Selection Sunday
The Blue Devils will await word of who their opponent will be in the NCAA Tournament first round … The NCAA selection show will be televised live on ESPNU at 9 p.m. … The first rounds will be held at the top eight seeds’ campus sites May 11 and May 12.
