DURHAM, N.C. – Duke senior fencer Anthony Lin and golfer Brinson Paolini were named to the Capital One Academic All-District III Men’s At-Large Team, College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Friday.

The Academic All-District III citation is the second for Lin and first for Paolini. Lin, who also appeared on the team as a junior, owns a 3.86 grade point average while double majoring in neuroscience and computer science. Paolini boasts a 3.72 grade point average as a psychology major.

Lin is a native of Portland, Ore., and has been a key member of the Duke fencing team over his four years. A three-time NCAA qualifier, Lin posted a career record of 181-56 as a member of Duke’s saber squad. He served as team captain as a senior, helping the Duke men post a 15-9 overall record and the sabers a 16-8 mark.

Lin recently received an NCAA Postgraduate scholarship and is a three-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll. A double major in neuroscience and computer science, he currently owns a grade point average of 3.855 and will graduate from Duke in May.

Paolini, tabbed No. 22 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, is in the midst of an outstanding senior campaign, recording a 71.75 stroke average and notching four top-5 finishes and 10 top-20s. The Virginia Beach, Va., native leads the Blue Devils in stroke average, top-5 finishes, top-10 finishes (6), top-20 finishes, under-par rounds (15), even or under-par rounds (18), rounds in the 60’s (7) and rounds at 75 or under (27). Paolini, an ACC Player of the Year candidate, received the 2013 Byron Nelson Award, given annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence on the golf course, in the community and in the classroom.

During his four years at Duke, Paolini has led the team to eight team victories, while also etching his name into program record books in career scoring average (2nd, 72.25), rounds in the 60’s (2nd, 27), under-par rounds (t-2nd, 47), even-par or better rounds (2nd, 68), top-5 finishes (2nd, 12), top-10 finishes (T-3rd, 18) and top920 finishes (T-3rd , 27). The 2011 All-America selection is also among the all-time leaders in tournaments played (T-7th, 45) and rounds played (T-9th, 131).
