DURHAM, N.C. – Duke senior rower Emily Theys was named to the Pocock All-America second team by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Tuesday.

Theys, a native of Stoughton, Wisc., is the sixth rower in school history to earn All-America honors, and her award is the 10th All-America citation received by a Duke rower.

Theys is among the most decorated rowers in school history. A four-year member of the varsity eight, Theys has three times earned All-ACC and All-South Region honors and powered Duke’s varsity eight to several top finishes this season, including a second-place showing at the ACC Championship. Also a member of the US Rowing U-23 National Team, Theys has twice been named to the All-ACC Academic Rowing Team and thrice to the CRCA Scholar-Athlete squad. She graduated from Duke in May with a degree in sociology.

Theys is the first Duke rower to earn All-America status since Alex Japhet received the honor in 2011.
