DURHAM, N.C. – redshirt junior Juliet Bottorff has been named to the 2013 Capitol One Academic All-America Team for her efforts on the field and in the classroom, as announced Thursday, June 27.

During the 2012-13 school year, Bottorff earned first team All-America honors in cross country and indoor track and field.  The Newark, Del., native led the Blue Devils to a seventh place team finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and earned an individual ACC Indoor Championship title in the 5,000 meters.  Bottorff owns the ACC record in the event, clocking a time of 15:49.45 at the NCAA Championships to finish seventh overall.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore who has excelled athletically while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.30.  Fifteen women from cross country and track and field were named to the 2013 squad.  Since the program's inception in 1952, over 15,000 student athletes from all three divisions and all of the NCAA championship sports have earned the prestigious honor.

Bottorff graduated from Duke with a degree in Neuroscience in May 2013, earning an overall GPA of 3.71.  This summer, she will begin graduate school at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business where she will pursue her Master’s in Management Studies while utilizing her final year of eligibility.
