DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke women's track & field and cross country program welcomes 12 freshmen to its roster for the 2012-13 seasons.  The impressive group has collected 28 state championships and hails from eight different states.   

Amarie Bremel:
Throws
Kingsburg, Calif. (Kingsburg High School)

Prior to Duke: Four year letterwinner under Cole Sprague at Kingsburg High School…finished fifth in the discus at the 2012 California State Championships…2013 state championship qualifier in the shot put and discus…named team MVP for the 2011, 2012, and 2013 seasons…also lettered four years in volleyball and three years in basketball…elected junior class treasurer and student body treasurer.
Personal: Daughter of Dave and Polly Bremel…born April 24, 1995.

Personal: Daughter of Ann Marie and Paul Daniel…born March 20, 1995…has one older sister, Patrice.

Prior to Duke: Four year letterwinner for Shon Hardy at Ravenscroft School…eight-time national champion including earning the honor twice in the outdoor 5K (2011, 2013), 1,600 (2011, 2013) and two mile (2012, 2013) and once in the 5K (2013) and 3,200 (2013)…first high school girl to win the “long distance triple” (1,600, 3,200 and 5,000) at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals…a 17-time All-America honoree…won the 2009 NCISAA XC State Champion…earned nine state titles with three in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200…named the 2013 NC Gatorade Track Player of the Year…NC Gatorade XC Player of the Year…member of the Spanish Honor Society. 
Personal: Daughter of Tammy Palmer and Timothy Frazier…born September 3, 1995…has one younger sister, Ryen.

Prior to Duke: Four year letterwinner under Perry Jones at Palisades Charter High School…placed second at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the heptathlon and qualified to compete as a member of the United States Junior National Team at the 2013 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships…2013 Arcadia Multis Champion…fourth place finisher in the pentathlon at the 2013 New Balance Indoor Nationals…2012 Junior Olympic heptathlon champion…led high school team to three CIF LA City Section titles...graduated in top ten percent of her class.
