Five Blue Devils were listed among the top 125 singles players in the country, with sophomore Michael Redlicki leading the way as the nation’s 22nd-ranked player. The 2013 ITA Carolina Region Rookie of the Year closed out his freshman campaign at No. 38 in the ITA’s final singles rankings after compiling a ledger of 31-11 and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Singles Championship in Champaign, Ill.

Saba wrapped up the 2012-13 season with a singles mark of 26-11 and was selected to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship. Hemmeler went 35-6 last year as a sophomore and won a team-high 25 matches in dual match singles play, while Mengel compiled a singles record of 27-9 and was ranked in nine of the 10 ITA singles polls on the season.

Duke also had three doubles pairs receive preseason rankings, as Tahir and Redlicki were tabbed No. 11, Hemmeler and sophomore Bruno Semenzato No. 25 and Mengel and Saba No. 37.

Selections for the 2013 ITA Men’s All-American Championships were also announced Friday, with Redlicki and Saba earning spots in the main singles draw. The doubles tandems of Tahir and Redlicki and Hemmeler and Semenzato were selected to the main doubles draw, and the duo of Mengel and Saba earned a spot in the doubles qualifying round.

The Blue Devils kick off their fall 2013 slate next weekend by hosting the Duke Fab Four Invitational at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
