DURHAM, N.C. -- Senior libero Ali McCurdy earned Ronald McDonald House Duke Student-Athlete of the Week honors after turning in a brilliant weekend to help the Duke volleyball team to a pair of conference wins, breaking the ACC all-time digs record in the process.
Needing 25 digs to tie Clemson's Didem Ege for the ACC career record, McCurdy picked up 48 over the Blue Devils' two matches, averaging a torrid 6.00 digs per set. She amassed over 20 digs in each contest, totaling 22 versus Syracuse Friday and tying a season high with 26 against Boston College Saturday.
For her career, McCurdy has totaled 2,316 digs, surpassing the previous league record of 2,303, set by Ege in 2009. She has picked up 10 or more digs in 51 consecutive contests and ranks second nationally among active players in career digs.
The Blue Devils return to action this coming weekend, traveling to Maryland and Pittsburgh for a pair of ACC road matches.
