DURHAM, N.C. – Head coach Chris Pollard and the Duke baseball program are excited to announce the signing of Jack Labosky, a top talent from Northern California, to a National Letter of Intent. Labosky is set to join the Blue Devils next fall.

“Without question, Jack Labosky is one of the top infielders in the country,” said Pollard. “He has soft hands and a plus arm at third base. As a testament to his toughness and competitiveness, he was also 11-0 on the mound this past spring. It speaks volumes that he was the only junior to be named a finalist for the prestigious California Player of the Year honor. Jack’s parents were both tremendous collegiate athletes as track stars at Kansas, so he gets it honest.  With his impressive combination of physical ability and competitive fire, I look for Jack to do great things very early in his career at Duke.”

A 2013 All-USA California Baseball Team honorable mention selection and one of seven finalists for Cal-Hi Sports Mr. Baseball State Player of the Year recognition, Labosky was dominant for Clovis North High School during his junior campaign, leading the Broncos to a 27-6 record and their first CIF Central Section Division I title. A 6-3 third baseman, he registered a .437 batting average on the year, swatting eight doubles, a triple and three home runs. Batting from the cleanup spot, he scored 25 runs, drove in 22 RBI, slugged .655 and went 9-for-11 on stolen base attempts.

Labosky’s pitching statistics were equally as impressive as the Tri-River Athletic Conference co-Player of the year went 11-0 with a 0.81 ERA against some of the top high school programs in the country. He permitted a lone earned run or under in 11 of his 12 starts, including victories over defending D-1 champion Bullard and 2013 state-ranked teams Buchanan and Clovis. Labosky also amassed 81 strikeouts while allowing just 48 hits and 17 walks over 80 innings of work. will continue to release each of the Blue Devils’ incoming recruits over the next few weeks, so be sure to check back for more information on all the future Duke players.
