What is your favorite lacrosse memory?
HS: Winning the state championship my senior year.
Why did you choose Duke?
HS: Duke has the perfect balance of impressive academics and successful athletics that I am looking for. The university recognizes the importance of developing the complete student, one that succeeds both inside and outside of the classroom. This is a philosophy I have been familiar with my whole life and am happy to be continuing at Duke.
When did you start playing lacrosse?
HS: I started playing lacrosse in third grade. At first, it was practices with hundreds of kids and no real games. Once I got the chance to play on a team against other towns, I loved it. I was on my school team, town team and a club team all at the same time and would rush from one game to another. My brothers and I would play in the back yard when we had time—I couldn’t get enough!
Who has had the biggest impact on your life?
HS: My family has had a huge impact on my life. My parents and brothers are always the first ones I look to for their opinions and advice, so they have kind of made me who I am. And my brothers are the ones that got me so into sports because I was always tagging along with them when we were young, either playing lacrosse or throwing football or playing hockey.
Favorite athlete: Mia Hamm
Hobbies: Lacrosse, field hockey, hanging out with friends, reading, shopping
Favorite movie: Crazy, Stupid, Love
Favorite TV show: Saturday Night Live
Favorite book: The Da Vinci Code
Favorite musician: Mark DeRose Music (my uncle)
Pre-game ritual/superstition: I always retie my shoes right before I go on the field, and I usually wear the same hairstyle for every game.
What do you plan to major in? I am still deciding, but I definitely want to do get a job in business or marketing when I graduate.
If you were to play another sport, what would it be? I have played field hockey since I was in fifth grade and have loved every minute of it.
Interesting fact about yourself: I was born on St. Patrick’s Day
Best advice you’ve received: “Whatever you are, be a good one.”
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself working in a major city doing something I love with the intent to settle down and start a family.
To be a part of the Duke women’s lacrosse program is … special. I am looking forward to developing both my lacrosse skills and my character, and am excited to become the best possible player and teammate that I can be. I am so excited to have the opportunity to be part of such a great family.
