DALLAS, TEXAS – Duke senior epee Dylan Nollner took 21st out of 254 competitors in the Division I men’s epee competition at the December North American Cup this past Saturday.

Nollner, who took fifth at the 2012 NCAA Championship, opened the tournament going 5-1 in the first-round round-robin pool, won both bouts in the second round and defeated No. 22 seed Alex House and No. 5 seed Justin Dion in the third-round repechage. His day ended in the round of 16 at the blade of No. 31 seed Samuel Koch, 15-11.

A senior and team captain from Ogden, Utah, Nollner enters his senior season with a 96-48 (.667) career record, three top-three finishes at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional and three NCAA Championship appearances. He won the NCAA regional in 2013 and was just one point shy of advancing to the NCAA Championship medal rounds.

Nollner and the Blue Devils open the 2014 collegiate season on Sunday, Jan. 12, at the Penn State Duals in University Park, Pa.
